Blueprint 002: Corrugated Metal + Birch Plywood Garden Room
Every great design starts with a blueprint, and this garden room showcases how bold ideas, thoughtful detailing, and expert craftsmanship can transform a simple concept into architectural form. Measuring 12 metres by 4.2 metres, this bespoke structure combines a home office, small W/C, and garden gym within a single, cohesive design.
Our client came to us with a clear vision: a barn-inspired space that beautifully blends Scandinavian simplicity with refined Japanese design influences. The outcome is a truly one-of-a-kind studio. It is a perfect showcase of what’s possible when you choose a fully bespoke garden room crafted around your lifestyle and aesthetic.

Externally, the building is wrapped in corrugated metal cladding, creating a contemporary, barn-inspired aesthetic that feels at home in both rural and urban settings. The durable steel panels include five sets of aluminium sliding doors, flooding the space with natural light and blurring the boundary between indoors and out.

Inside, birch plywood wall panelling brings warmth and precision to the design. Each panel is measured, cut, and fitted with delicate shadow gaps – a subtle but defining detail that elevates the finish and highlights the care taken by our design and build teams. The pale tones of the birch plywood contrast beautifully with the bold, textured metal exterior, balancing softness and strength throughout.
Under the pitched roof, a central walkway links the home office and gym, doubling as a covered outdoor seating area. An oak-engineered floor continues seamlessly onto the surrounding decking, adding continuity and natural flow to the space.

This project is a true representation of our design-and-build ethos, combining robust materials, architectural clarity, and meticulous execution to create a garden room that is both functional and beautifully refined.
“Amazing build from initial sketch to final finished building. Nothing was too much trouble for Richard and his team. Attention to detail and craftsmanship was excellent. I would highly recommend.” – Mrs Pay, Dorking, Surrey
