Blueprint 003: L-Shaped + Corrugated Outbuilding
Corrugated metal cladding isn’t just for barns or industrial sheds. It’s a bold design choice redefining modern garden architecture. At Blueprint Spaces, we use corrugated metal to bring texture, depth, and a refined edge to our garden rooms, offering a design that feels both contemporary and rooted in the rural landscape. It’s a material that celebrates simplicity, strength, and craftsmanship and is perfectly aligned with our architectural approach to outdoor living.
Designed as both a creative art studio and a quiet family retreat, this L-shaped, corrugated metal outbuilding offers two distinct yet connected spaces. The layout makes clever use of the L-shape, creating a natural flow between the main studio and seating area, while maintaining a sense of separation. With its considered proportions and calming aesthetic, it’s a space that invites creativity, focus, and moments of pause.
The exterior combines corrugated metal panels with slim aluminium doors and windows, creating clean lines and long-lasting durability. This material, chosen for its strength and weather resistance, ensures the structure will age gracefully while maintaining a bold, contemporary appearance. One of the key benefits of metal cladding is its exceptional durability. It is low-maintenance and built to last for decades without the need for regular treatment or upkeep. This makes it an ideal choice for a garden room, offering long-term protection while giving the building a distinctive, architectural edge.
Inside, natural light floods the main studio through an expansive set of aluminum sliding doors and a full height fixed window. The open space is an inspiring environment for our client who is a local artist. The adjoining wing provides a more intimate space that is a calming, family zone. This clever L-shape layout helps define distinct areas with their own purpose, while still feeling connected as one cohesive building. It’s a smart way to make a garden room work harder for everyday living.
Together, the two spaces form a layout that’s as functional as it is beautiful. Built to endure and designed to inspire, this project is a testament to the versatility and elegance of corrugated metal garden rooms crafted by our design-and-build team.
